Coming home from hospital should feel like a relief, not another job. A little preparation in the days before discharge makes an enormous difference.

Clear the routes first. Trailing cables, loose rugs and cluttered hallways are the most common cause of falls in the weeks after an operation.

Move everyday items to waist height so there is no bending or stretching, make the bed with fresh linen and make sure the bathroom is properly sanitised.

Our care at home teams can carry out a pre-discharge clean and then visit daily or weekly during recovery, working alongside family members and care coordinators.
