What Second Home Services Do We Provide?
We provide professional cleaning on a schedule that suits you. We can offer deep cleaning, spring cleaning, laundry and ironing, bed-making, and defrosting your fridge or freezer. We can clean before, during and/or after your visit. We also have a regular housework service that can be delivered on a weekly, fortnightly and monthly basis, which is especially useful if you make frequent visits to your second home or you rent it out to guests throughout the year.
Whoever you hand your house keys over to, you want to know that they’re in safe hands. At Poppies, we have various security measures in place to ensure the safety and security of your keys (and your second home). We give our client keys a code number and store them securely in a key safe when not in use.
Home security visits
The security of your second home is a high priority, especially if it’s left unattended for long periods, which can unfortunately be a draw for burglars and trespassers. We can provide a tailored security visit checklist, which includes visual inspections of both the interior and exterior of your home, looking for signs of damage, vandalism or an attempted break-in.
If your home insurance policy requires a visit to your second home every seven days, we’re happy to do this on your behalf.
With Poppies, you don’t have to worry about being greeted by a mountain of mail (most of which you’ll probably throw away anyway!) when you arrive at your second home. We’ll forward the important mail to your main (or most convenient) address, neatly stack non-urgent mail and dispose of any “junk” mail that gets posted through your letterbox.
If your second home doesn’t have a smart meter, it can be tricky and time-consuming to provide your utility supplier with frequent meter readings (which might need to be done on a monthly or quarterly basis). If you fail to submit your meter readings on time, you’ll most likely be hit with an “estimated bill” that can be way over your actual usage. We’ll make sure your meter readings are sent off accurately and punctually, so you don’t overpay for your utility bills.
Appliance maintenance and servicing
To reduce the risk of you or your guests being affected by unforeseen faults during your stay, we can organise maintenance checks and servicing on your appliances and equipment (such as your fridge, freezer and boiler) whilst you’re away.

We can also arrange gardening, window cleaning, painting, decorating and chimney sweeping services to help keep your second home in shipshape.
